Blooming Lovely!

What a blooming lovely spring and summer we’ve had.

As the recovery continues, we’ve managed to deliver a good range of activities both needed and valued by our community. From Pilates and Gardening to Sewing and much more…

Mondays has always featured our popular flagship Drop in with lunch. Follow up 1:1 appointments continue to be in demand for support with things like  housing: homelessness applications and overcrowding transfers; food bank and increasingly, hardship referrals; adult social care and some limited benefits support. Due to capacity these appointments are reserved for users of our service

Volunteers

A big thank you to all our volunteers who have worked with us on various projects. These are some of the beautiful plants our lovely ladies came and planted, it was a beautiful day.

We rely on the help and support of volunteers and were pleased to offer Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene training as part of a project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. Some of our volunteers went on to successfully complete their Level 2 Food Hygiene and safety Level 2 Catering. Here’s one of our proud volunteers.

Well done Oudia.

A big THANK YOU to the following funders for supporting our projects this year

Pilates.

Thanks to a Magic Little Grant, we are now delivering a beginners Pilates class started on Wednesday December 1st.

Why Pilates?

We believe it is important to keep moving and to exercise, especially in the colder months and that Pilates is gentle form of doing so! There are many ways Pilates can have a good impact on you. Some of the benefits include:

It improves your posture. Pilates focuses on the full bodyโ€™s alignment, ideal range of motion at the joints, and a balance of all opposing muscles. It improves posture by bringing awareness to your alignment and strengthening neglected postural muscles.

It increases energy. By focusing on breath, Pilates improves cardiorespiratory capacity. This stimulates feel good hormones, oxygen flow, and blood circulation. Pilates achieves all of this and, due to its low impact nature, rarely leaves you feeling fatigued. Instead, it gives you a boost of energy.

It decreases stress. The inward focus and use of breath from Pilates can down-regulate the nervous system. This, in turn, can take you out of fight-or-flight mode, lower cortisol, and decrease stress over time.

It boots your immunity. Pilates helps boost immune system functioning, especially in older adults. It also suggests all ages could experience a boost to immunity through Pilates, mainly because of improved circulation. Along with improved circulation comes improved immune system function. A good immune system is a function of properly flowing blood and lymph both of which are boosted by Pilates.

Sewing to Sustain

2020 was hard. So much to contend with and yet so much to be grateful for. We are emerging on the other side. Yes we were lucky to receive some emergency funding and thankfully the emergency is now over. Back to ‘normal’ business means an endless stream of funding applications with less chance of success than ever before as huge numbers of us compete for limited resources. We want to use what limited capacity and time we have differently.

Introducing Sewing to Sustain: our latest project. We spent the month of May piloting a bright idea

Here is our Press release:

In a short space of time, we perfected our production line: cutting; pinning; ironing; sewing; packaging

Join us for the Launch: Friday 28th May

THINGS ARE LOOKING UP

-Good day to everyone. We are coming to the end of the month, which means we can only start manifesting how great we would like next month to be!

-What we mean by things are looking up is, the Prime Minister has finally set dates for when we can return to our normal life, now we understand to some people it may seem a bit tedious as the rules have changed so much since the first lockdown but at least itโ€™s a start!

What we also donโ€™t understand is our mindset subconsciously is what we attract, sometimes it may not be intentional but what you manifest, the universe makes happen in your normal day to day life. We completely understand given the current circumstances that it is hard not to have the odd negative thought here and there, itโ€™s only normal as we are all human beings with feelings! But what we mustnโ€™t do is endure in those thoughts. We can completely understand how anxiety has affected a lot of people in this difficult time and even before, but we could argue now more than ever. We would like anyone who suffers with anxiety to allow themselves to think about the things you love the most, think about the fact that you must be special to have received the gift of life. Believe that youโ€™re trying your best for those that you love and care for and most importantly yourself, even when it may not feel like so. Trust that better days are definitely coming, your prayers get answered in ways that you would never expect. To try and keep you on track and on the road to a more positive aspect of life we at Tell It started a Movements and Meditation class. You can attend this class via Zoom every Monday from 11:30am-12:30pm. Remember, try to stay calm, count your blessings and most importantly BREATHE!

The Law Of Attraction

We at Tell It strongly believe in the Law Of Attraction and thatโ€™s why we would like to share some ways that can help you block out any negatives thoughts you may have or are currently experiencing through this pandemic.

We would like to start by saying, just like the metaphor โ€œyou are what you eatโ€ it also applies to โ€œwhat you think is what you becomeโ€. What we as humans continuously do is put our sleeves down for either not doing enough, not trying hard enough or are just feeling hopeless. What is happening currently is completely out of our control and even if you may not feel like youโ€™re trying your best, youโ€™re doing your best within your means.

Completely flip the script! If youโ€™re someone who was used to working 24/7 with barely anytime to yourself there must be some things in your home you may want to make changes to or a book youโ€™ve been meaning to read, look at this as an opportunity, a break. Of course this pandemic is absolutely our reality but make it a reality you can benefit from when we are allowed to get back to our normal lives. Think about all the things youโ€™ve spoken on before lockdown and now itโ€™s time to put the Law Of Attraction to work. Manifest exactly what youโ€™d like to accomplish, achieve, do or where youโ€™d like to visit when we are allowed back to our normal lives and I assure you, maye not exactly in the way youโ€™d expect but the universe is bound to make it happen!

ENJOY YOUR NEW MONTH OF MAINFESTING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION!

LOCKDOWN – LIFE CONTINUES…

Welcome to 2021

What a way to begin the new year as ‘lockdown life’ continues. Our work is important, our community is important and we are doing all we can to help people stay connected, this is important. In addition to helping out and supporting where possible, we are running three key projects as follows:

The Parents Space continued… As you know we have had to suspend the weekly Drop Ins to our community hub however, are still able to see individuals BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. This service is on a Monday afternoon between 1.3 0 – 4.30pm and is aimed at people who need face to face support with formal correspondence; housing; education & parenting etc. We are trialing an online Drop-In. Get in touch if you would like the link to join. This project is funded through:

For those of us who remain indoors, we have started a weekly Movement & Medi session: Mondays 11.30 – 12.30pm. Feedback to date has been great. It breaks the monotony of the long weekends and sets us up for the week ahead. Email contact details are on the flyer or you can contact us via this site and we will send you the zoom link to join. Which brings me to ask – are you OK with the Zoom app? Have you used it? Would you like any support to join the session: An old fashion email will do – let us know if you would like a hand Zooming.

Want to join us? Ask for the Zoom link

Would you like to continue improving your English?

The ESOL Home Learning Project has been running for a few months now and is proving a welcome addition to ‘lockdown life’ for many.

Whilst our community hub remains closed for group activity, we are able to facilitate the ‘Pass and Collect system. Just let us have an idea of the time you will be here and we will have your Home Learning Pack ready for collection. All we ask is that you practice ‘social distancing’ in the event there is another person here at that time. We expect you to pass and collect as part of your permitted exercise or walk.

We appreciate not everyone is able to leave their home for the permitted exercise and ask that you get in touch if you would like Home Learning Packs delivered to your home.
