Blooming Lovely!

What a blooming lovely spring and summer we’ve had.

As the recovery continues, we’ve managed to deliver a good range of activities both needed and valued by our community. From Pilates and Gardening to Sewing and much more…

Mondays has always featured our popular flagship Drop in with lunch. Follow up 1:1 appointments continue to be in demand for support with things like  housing: homelessness applications and overcrowding transfers; food bank and increasingly, hardship referrals; adult social care and some limited benefits support. Due to capacity these appointments are reserved for users of our service

Volunteers

A big thank you to all our volunteers who have worked with us on various projects. These are some of the beautiful plants our lovely ladies came and planted, it was a beautiful day.

We rely on the help and support of volunteers and were pleased to offer Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene training as part of a project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. Some of our volunteers went on to successfully complete their Level 2 Food Hygiene and safety Level 2 Catering. Here’s one of our proud volunteers.

Well done Oudia.

A big THANK YOU to the following funders for supporting our projects this year

What a difference a year makes!

In June 2018 we moved into our new home @472 Harrow Road, W9 3RU in North Westminster. We have had a roller-coaster of a year once we secured the lease after months of negotiation, paperwork and preparation.ย In the last year: we cleaned, repaired and painted; we sourced new, old and donated furniture; we promoted and marketed and leafleted our new address; weย  worked in the garden and more…

NEW for 2019

Following feedback from our service users, this year we added more activities to our service. In addition to the staples, from our new community hub we ran the following activities:

  • Introduction to Yoga
  • Relaxation, Mindfulness and Meditation
  • Sewing Workshops: Beginners, Repairs and Make your ownโ€ฆ
  • Monthly well being walks

We were so excited andย  pleased to be nominated and shortlisted for the #MyWestminster Community Awards to culminate with our one year anniversary. And truly humbled to win the category: Voluntary Contribution to the Community. Here’s to the coming year! See Westminster’s photo album here:

Drop In

Since August 2016, we have been without a fixed space however, our service continues to deliver a range of services that are important to our local community. This year we have managed to deliver English Classes, Triple P Parenting Programmes and a Community Inform & Empower project in partnership with Westminster Adult Education Service.

We know how important it is to remain as accessible as possible and we’ve been a permanent fixture every Monday, at the Advice Plus sessions at the Beethoven Centre since September 2016. We continue to provide advice with the following:

  • Formal correspondence: explaining and responding to letters and emails
  • Making appointments and telephone calls
  • Completing benefit forms, appeals and health questionnaires
  • Housing applications, placements and queries
  • Liaising and advocating with professional services (eg: schools, social services)
  • and more…

If you have an issue you think we can help with, pop in and see us:

Mondays 1-4pm @ Beethoven Centre, Third Avenue, London W10 4JL
